Safe to Be — A Return to Yourself, by Andreea Munteanu

By Andreea Munteanu · English edition

When understanding your story is only the beginning

You may understand your story and still find yourself reacting in ways you thought you had moved beyond. You may long for closeness, yet pull away when someone comes near. You may struggle to receive support, carry responsibility for everyone around you, or feel that you can only rest when everything is under control.

Safe to Be — A Return to Yourself invites you to explore these experiences with greater understanding and gentleness, and to discover how inner safety can gradually become part of the way you live.

A book to read slowly, return to, and meet yourself within.

About the book

Making room for the parts of you that learned to protect

Perhaps you have already spent years trying to understand yourself. You recognize certain patterns, know where some of your pain began, and have experienced moments of clarity. Yet a difficult conversation, an uncertain relationship, or the possibility of being seen can still bring back familiar fear.

This book explores the space between understanding what has shaped you and beginning to feel safe enough to experience life differently.

Drawing on her own journey and her work accompanying others, Andreea Munteanu brings together reflections on the body, the inner child, family history, relationships, and the protective responses we carry into adult life.

At the heart of the book is a map of protective knots: interconnected patterns of feeling, belief, and response that may once have helped us preserve connection, cope with uncertainty, or keep going.

These knots become visible in everyday experiences: the fear of being left, the feeling of never being enough, the need to stay in control, the difficulty of receiving without feeling indebted, or the hesitation to express what we truly feel.

Through personal stories, questions, and reflective practices, the book invites you to notice these patterns without reducing yourself to them. It offers space to recognize what you have carried, listen more closely to your experience, and explore what it might mean to stay connected to yourself when life becomes difficult.

There is room here for who you are, for what you have lived, and for the parts of you still learning that it is safe to be.

An invitation to recognize yourself

  • You understand your patterns but still feel caught in them.
  • You find it difficult to relax, trust, or ask for support.
  • You often put other people’s needs ahead of your own.
  • You feel responsible for keeping relationships or situations stable.
  • You long to express yourself more openly, yet hesitate when the moment comes.
  • You want to approach your inner life with greater patience and compassion.
